Difference between Desktop and Web versions

Currently, COMcheck and REScheck both are provided in at least 2 different versions for flexibility and to allow a transition period to all the users. The 2 main versions include Desktop version and the Web version.

Please refer to the images below to determine the version you are using if you are not sure.

Desktop version

It is a software that can be downloaded and installed on a system. The Desktop versions are being phased out and won't have any newer codes/features. Any files created in the Desktop version can be exported and then imported into the Legacy COMcheck-Web version (for steps, read here).

COMcheck Desktop version

The latest version for Desktop is 4.1.5.5.

Web version

It is a web application that can be opened on a browser and does not need any installation.

Benefits of using a Web version:

  • No installation and download required: The software can be accessed only using a browser and internet connection. This saves a user's device storage space and aids storing data files in a secure environment.
  • Cross-platform compatibility: The software can be accessed from any computer and browser using a user's credentials.
  • Self-updating solutions: New features, energy codes and bug-fixes can be deployed without the user having to update or download another version of the software. This ensures that the user is always using the most updated version of the tool.
